Fundraising
Each year we put on a number of events for charity. Here are some of our events we've done over the past year.
Charter Night
Every year Rotaract clubs celebrate the anniversary of them becoming a club. Some clubs have informal events, others have formal ones. We decided to have a black tie dinner to give us a good opportunity to get dressed up!
We held the event at Bawtry Golf Club and had a delicious 4 course meal, speeches and a disco. We sold tickets to the event and decided to fundraise on the night by holding a raffle and playing 'kings and queens'. Guests were very generous and we raised £355 for Cancer Research UK.
Quiz Night
Doncaster Rotaract has now held two annual quiz nights to raise money for charity. In March around 50 people met in The Salutation's function room and took part in a quiz. Teams paid to enter and we held a raffle, raising around £250. Again this was for Cancer Research UK as we decided we'd put the money from this and the Charter Night together to send them a large donation.
Hook a Duck
We have close links with the local Rotary Clubs in Doncaster. In August Doncaster St George's club work with Doncaster Classic Car Club to put on a Classic Car Show at the School for the Deaf. We had a fundraising stand at this event and decided to have a Hook a Duck stand. It was very popular with the children at the show and we raised £35 for The Aurora Centre.
Car Boot Sale Pitch
In order to boost the money we were sending to The Aurora Centre from Hook a Duck we held a pitch at the car boot sale at The Keepmoat Stadium. A few of us got up extremely early on a Sunday morning and took more than a car full down of things we had collected from friends, family and Rotarians. We raised £96 again for the Aurora Centre.
